Maxine Ennis

Maxine Ennis

Maxine Ennis became interested in rug hooking after an introductory course at the Anna Templeton Center in 2001. The opportunity for self-expression through style, texture and color is exciting for Maxine, and designing and completing her own patterns is fulfilling.

When carrying out this tradition Maxine feels very connected her past because rug hooking was important to her mother and grandmothers. While she enjoys variety, Maxine particularly likes working on pictorials because for her it is a wonderful way to capture a moment in time.

She primarily uses recycled fabrics, some that are often hand dyed. Although a relative newcomer to this art form, Maxine has quickly become very serious about it. She teaches rug-hooking workshops, is a member of provincial and international rug hooking associations, and has participated successfully in exhibits at Devon House, Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Mary March Museum and The Rooms.
