George Jarvis was born in Clarenville, T.B.,Newfoundland but, being a preacher’s kid, lived in a number of communities around the island. He currently resides with his wife, Lorraine, in Topsail, NL. He started painting in oils in the early 1970’s. In the early 1980’s he discovered the medium of watercolor and never looked back. His main focus is landscape, specifically the Newfoundland landscape. His watercolors hang in the provincial government collection as well as numerous public and private collections worldwide. He has studied with a number of watercolor teachers including Tony Couch, Jim Scott, Tony Van Hasselt, Stirling Edwards, and Judy Wagner.
In the mid 1990’s he started teaching the art of watercolor and continues conducting workshops in the medium todayin his studio in Topsail.
