Eric Stentaford
Eric Stentaford is a fine artist and photographer who grew up in Carbonear. He earned Science and Education degrees at Memorial and taught science and art in St. Georges and St. John's. Eric is now a full time artist and resides in Manuels with his wife and two children.
He is a conservationist, a gardener and loves to paint the sea and the Newfoundland landscape. "To paint your subject you have to be familiar with it in a spiritual and structural sense" he says, and therefore spends time in the woods and on his boat experiencing and photographing his subject matter. The results have been striking compositions and powerful skies.
Trees also play an important part in Eric’s work because for him they are a way to include the dimension of time. Eric began a Fine Arts Degree at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, has painted with local artists, participated in numerous group exhibits, and is an active member of several arts related organizations.
